first off I'm compelled to review and pass on that the headphone jack will not accommodate the average adapter that allows a wireless headphone dual RCA to stereo headphones due to the shape of the headphones slot on the DVD unit. The unit always packs away nicely and travels well when putting it back in a box. it just wont fit in the deep socket but I'm sure there is an extension that will work. other than that.A decent system and has been easy to set up and disassemble as I have to move every 6 months. Would get a smaller unit though as the box is quiet large. Decent sound but the base can be a bit dull and loud through an apartments walls hence the need for wireless headphones.
I have put this one in my bedroom(totally awesome) and bought one with a little more kick(but it cost me $200 more) for the family room. Good sound, good looks. It has preset equalizer sounds though which I dont care for( you cant adjust the bass or treble to your liking). So in a nut shell- if your looking for a first surround sound system without spending too much-this Sony is for you, but if your looking to knock your socks off, spend the few more hundreds of dollars. Dont take me wrong, I wasnt disappointed, it just wasnt what I was looking for.
Great system, but just not enough volume. If you are looking for serious volume look somewhere else because this unit is limited in that department.
I was very pleased with this Sony system. I set it up, including running the wires through the ceiling, in about 90 minutes. It is simple to use and the sound is quite good. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a simple, quality system.
The Sony DAV-HDX500/i Bravia Home Theater system is WONDERFUL. We feel as if we are actually in a Movie Theater, however the great sound effects that come out of it scare our dog and cats to death so they run and hide. We Love It.
